How David was a calming presence in a room with five lawyers and angry ex-partners

Nobody likes lawsuits. But David was such a professional. The way he broke everything down, just wow. He was a calming presence in a stressful period.

I started a fintech company with other guys in Florida. It went well before it did not. Things didn’t work out. In the end it was a very hostile and nasty situation.

There was a conflict between the partners. We had an operating agreement and there were investors. David turned the agreement into a favorable situation for me. He worked his butt off, and the other lawyers were lazy.

I was potentially going to lose a lot of money and I could be liable for a certain situation. I had four partners, and everybody lawyered up. There were also investors who were not happy. I was in New York, and the company was a Florida LLC.

David was negotiating with my ex-partners. It was a painful experience. We had five lawyers in the room.

But thanks to David, and his representation, advice and calming presence, my financial damages were minimized. I was able to move on with my life.

I could not have asked for a better legal representation. The negotiations lasted a few months, it was settled for me. The other partners are still fighting I guess.

Now I am involved in a number of new startups in real estate tech and renewable energy in New York. The whole ordeal did not discourage me. You keep on pushing, work hard and bring your experience into a new company. I think that’s the formula for success. And if you fail, you just man up and accept that there are inherent risks. You try not to make the same mistakes twice. And ask David for advice early on.

I am on a different playing field right now because of David and now when I think of starting a new company, I go to David from the very beginning.

In the beginning it’s like a honeymoon period. You do not want to think of worse case scenarios, when things go sour.  But it’s not personal. It is business. When people start a company, they should be drafting scenarios if things go sour. That’s where you need a lawyer like David. You have to be protected.
